Impotence is

Diabetes
and Cardiovascular Diseases
Cardiovascular diseases are the most serious complication and
account for more than 70% of the total deaths of diabetics.
Usually, the contracted cardiovascular diseases are coronary
heart diseases such as angina pectoris and myocardial
infarction.
One reason
for the occurrence of such complications is the disorder,
adipose metabolism. The constant outflow of free fatty acid from
the fat storehouse increases the concentration of triglyceride
and free fatty acid in the blood. This can easily lead to the
hardening of blood vessel walls of the coronary artery and
pathological changes of capillaries.
The other
reason is that diabetics are liable to diabetic pathological
changes of the autonomic nerve. That also accounts for the
complication itself.
What is the
prognosis of myocardial infarction in diabetics?
The
complication of diabetic coronary heart disease has hidden
symptoms such as arrhythmia, heart failure, angina pectoris and
myocardial infarction. Sometimes the heart indicates the first
symptoms of diabetes, showing it recessively when acute
myocardial infarction occurs. About 72% of all diabetics have
this kind of disease, with one quarter of them having no
symptoms of chest pain. But once it occurs, diabetics are liable
to such complications as arrhythmia, heart failure and shock.
All these
make the diabetes worse and may lead to ketone poisoning and
highly penetrative diabetic stupor. That accounts for the high
death rate of the complication, the first time death rate of
myocardial infarction being 39.2%. Those who remain living have
a high incidence of a second infarction and the death rate for
those whose heart functions have been decreased notably is as
high as 64.3%. The reasons for death are, sudden stopping of the
heart, shock and heart failure.
How can we
prevent artery hardening in diabetics?
The scarcity
of insulin inside the diabetics body and the metabolic disorder
of sugar and fat may increase the concentration of triglyceride,
decrease that of high-density lipoprotein in the blood, raise
the blood viscosity and thus lead to the hardening of the
arteries.
The major
treatment measures for artery hardening are as follows:
(1) The most
important measure is to provide active treatment for the
diabetes and try to get it under control. Control the key three
material metabolisms in the body at the normal standard or at
least get it close to the standard. Adopt effective measures to
decrease blood sugar and blood fat.
(2) Pay
attention to, and adjust the diet. Strictly control the quantity
of heat (calories). Eat less of those foods rich in fat and
cholesterol such as roes, internal organs of animals (hearts,
livers, lungs, kidneys and brains), the ovary and digestive
glands of crabs, squids, inkfish and egg yolk, etc. do not to
use animal fat such as lard, cattle oil, dairy cream and so on.
Instead, use more plant oil such as corn oil, peanut oil, tea

(3) Check
the blood fat (cholesterol) constantly. Once any increases are

blood sugar (by natural means or with insulin if necessary)
according to the condition. This will decrease the blood sugar
